I came to Canada with my grandparents in 1971 as a six-year-old from Georgetown, Guyana. I grew up in the East End of Toronto, where I still live today.
Art lifted me up through my darkest times. When my self-confidence was at its lowest, my passion for art helped carry me through. Art truly saved my life and revealed my self-love.
I started my art career by submitting my artwork to local art shows. I was chosen to be a part of the local artists circle in Toronto. I was humbled to join such a wonderful and supportive group of talented people.
I have also been featured in local magazines including Toronto Caribbean Life and The Share Magazine.
To be interviewed as a professional abstract artist was so uplifting and it gave me the confidence that I so needed as an artist.
My love for the arts led me to curate a few art shows, including shows for Canderel Property Management and Cadillac Fairview, Shops at Don Mills.
Providing a showcase for other local artists allows me to create a safe space for them to share their vision.
I found such excitement and fulfillment in the process of helping other talented artists. Paying it forward the opportunities that were offered to me.
My artwork explores a variety of colors and textures. I love to use sand to some of my paintings, which gives my paintings a textural dimension that is unique and one of a kind.
By Sharing my gift, I am confident that the favor given to me will uplift, grant opportunities for, and spark passion in other families, friends, and the beautiful people of our community as well. It’s the spirit of exchanging compassion and value.
Especially now, as we all work through the challenges of COVID-19, we need to remember our passions and never give up on our dreams.
